The Steve Lloyd Refuge is comprised of approximately 1100 acres. There can be as many as 600 surface water acres when the area is completely full. The refuge is broken up into 2 areas: upper and lower. There is absolutely no hunting allowed at any time in the refuge. Access is limited to the maintained roads only. There is a look-out area overlooking the upper refuge. The main river channel wraps around the east side of the refuge. Mall Creek wetland is across the river to the east and contains about 360 acres.
