FURHARVESTER EDUCATION COURSE NOV. 5

Course required of anyone born on or after July 1, 1966

CONCORDIA -- The Kansas Fur Harvesters Association and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) will sponsor a one-day furharvester education class in Concordia on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place at the Concordia National Guard Armory, 2115 Airport Drive. Anyone interested in furharvesting may take this course, but it is also a requirement for anyone born on or after July 1, 1966, who wants to trap, hunt, or pursue furbearing animals. Adults are welcome and encouraged to attend with younger students.

A free lunch will be sponsored by the Concordia Pheasants Forever Chapter. Charlie Lee, of Kansas State University's Extension Wildlife, will cover predator calling and dryland trapping for bobcats and coyotes. Volunteer instructor Bob Currie will teach water sets for raccoon, muskrat, and beaver. KDWP wildlife biologist Ron Ruthstrom will cover hunting with dogs, fur handling, modern trapping methods, ethics, laws, and regulations.
