Park users can avoid lines, waiting, by purchasing permits before going to the park
PRATT -- Kansas state park patrons are encouraged to save themselves time waiting in long lines this summer by purchasing permits before going to their favorite park. Although vehicle, camping, and other permits are available at offices of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, most park permits may be purchased online .

Click the "License/Permit Sales" button at the top of the KDWP home page and make purchases with a credit card. This is an easy, convenient way to purchase permits from the comfort of one's home and have permits in hand when entering a park. Through the department's automated licensing system, permits may also be purchased at select private businesses across the state, some of which offer other shopping needs for the park patron.

A daily or annual motor vehicle permit is required for all vehicles entering Kansas state parks. Daily vehicle permits expire at noon the day following purchase except Sundays and Memorial, Independence, and Labor days, when they expire at 2 p.m. A camping permit is required in addition to the motor vehicle permit for overnight stays. All camping permits expire at noon. A prime-site fee applies to designated sites from April 1-Sept. 30. Annual permits expire Dec. 31.
