Online reporting form, toll-free telephone number enable citizen involvement

With natural resource officers spread thin across Kansas, it’s often difficult for them to respond to reports of violation as quickly as they’d like. Operation Game Thief provides an effective tool to help these officers do their jobs.

The program provides a toll-free telephone number (1-877-426-3843) that citizens can call anytime of the day or night to report suspicious or illegal activity. Over the years, Operation Game Thief has resulted in numerous successful convictions of poachers and other violators, thanks to the involvement of citizens who called the toll-free telephone number.

The department’s website makes possible another way for citizens to get involved. By going online to the Operation Game Thief report form , citizens can provide information to help apprehend and convict natural resource law violators. And, like the toll-free telephone number, individuals who report such crimes can remain anonymous. The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks encourages all citizens to help put poachers and other fish, wildlife, and public lands violators out of business by using their telephones or computers to report them.
