SOUTHEAST KANSAS QUAIL UNLIMITED CHAPTER FORMED
Group to promote quail habitat improvement, field trials in region
GIRARD -- Recently, a group of 17 conservation-minded individuals from the Pittsburg-Girard area formed the new Southeast Kansas (SEK) Quail Unlimited Chapter. New chapter volunteers are eager to donate their time and energy on projects ranging from a conservation fundraiser dinner and auction to quail habitat management projects, an outdoor day, youth hunts, and other activities.
Rob Yarborough, Girard, is the chapter chairman. In an attempt to promote quail conservation and upland bird dog field trials in southeast Kansas, he helped organize the new SEK Quail Unlimited Chapter. With the input of several local veteran Quail Unlimited members, the chapter has already started to develop.
“I would like the chapter to be successful in youth recruitment and involvement, landowner relations, habitat improvement, and recreational opportunities,” said Yarborough. “We have a high-quality group of folks to draw inspiration from. The chapter will pool the collective talents of many people, not just the vision of one individual.”
The next meeting of the SEK Quail Unlimited Chapter will be on Thursday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Producers Co-op in Girard. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
