MILFORD TO HOST 7TH ANNUAL WOMEN'S FISHING TOURNAMENT AUG. 11

Women-only event will feature competition for best creels of Kansas sportfish

On Aug. 11, the Milford Lake Walleye Club will sponsor the Women's 7th Annual Fishing Tournament at Milford Reservoir, near Junction City. Two-woman teams (with a boat driver, if desired) will hit the lake at 7 a.m. and fish until 2 p.m.

Anglers will compete in five categories: walleye (18 inches or longer), smallmouth or largemouth bass (15 inches or longer), wiper (10 inches or longer), catfish (12 inches or longer), and white bass (10 inches or longer). Total points will be awarded to each team based on the number and total weight of fish caught.

The tournament requires a $45 entry fee per team, with 90 percent of fees going back to entrant prizes. A pre-event meeting will be held Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Milford City Park, complete with a meal and prize drawings. The following day, teams will launch from the Milford City Boat Ramp.
