Wildlife, Parks and Tourism Commission Meeting Set For January 11
PRATT – The Kansas Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KWPT) Commission will conduct their first public meeting of the New Year on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Milford Lake Conference Center, 3710 Farnum Creek Road, Milford. The afternoon session will begin at 1 p.m. and recess at 5 p.m., then the Commission will convene for the evening session at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend both sessions and time will be set aside at the beginning of each for public comment on non-agenda items.
The afternoon session will begin with a report on the agency and state fiscal status and an update on the 2018 Kansas legislative session. The General Discussion portion of the meeting will include a drawing to select the recipients of 2018 Commissioner Big Game permits, an update on the Tourism Division, a report on the five-year review of state threatened and endangered species, webless migratory bird regulations, and waterfowl regulations
The Workshop Session will include reviews of antelope and elk regulations, Public Lands regulations, deer regulations, permanent big game regulations, and Coast Guard navigation rules.
The evening session will convene at 6:30 p.m. for the Public Hearing portion of the meeting. The Commission will hear Secretary’s Orders on Free Park Entrance and Free Fishing Days, then vote on regulations pertaining to threatened and endangered species special permits, enforcement actions, and recovery plan procedures.
If necessary, the Commission will reconvene at the same location at 9 a.m., January 12, 2018, to complete any unfinished business.
