The Community Fisheries Assistance Program was designed to:
- Remove barriers to fishing access
- Provide family friendly fishing areas close to where people live
Using funds derived from excise taxes on fishing equipment via Sport Fish Restoration program, KDWPT recently began offering to replace past yearly revenues to community lakes which had been charging access fees to anglers.
In return, participating lakes are waiving any access fees previously charged to anglers to fish from the shore or a boat.
