This is a yearly event sponsored by Dickinson County Pheasants Forever. Wade Beemer was an avid hunter who was killed in a car accident at the age of 15. His family and Pheasants Forever established this event to educate and guide youth ages 9 to 15 about the ethics, responsibilities and safety involved with hunting before they go out into the field with a gun. The event features five stations: pen-raised bird hunting, trap shooting, biology, dog training, and field-dressing birds.

Pre-registered participants meet at the Abilene Community Center at 1 p.m. Oct. 30.
