The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism (KDWPT), in conjunction with Fishing’s Future, will host an Angler Education Instructor Certification course at the Agriculture Hall of Fame near the Kansas City Speedway on July 19th. Anglers aspiring to teach fishing techniques to youth, families, and students in Kansas are encouraged to attend. The class will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There is no cost to attend, however, class will be limited to the first 40 registrants.

Teens between the ages of 12 to 17 may also attend but must have the Junior Ambassador permission form signed by a parent or legal guardian. If you are a teen and plan on attending, let me know and I will send the form to you once you register. Bring the completed form to the class with you.

Apart from becoming a certified angler education instructor, attendees will also be given valuable information regarding working with children, sample curriculums, and tips for preparing a class or clinic. Other subjects covered in the four-hour class include current fishing regulations, species identification, fishing ethics, equipment, knot-tying, casting, fish habitat, aquatic nuisance species, and conservation practices.

Anglers interested in attending will need to email billh@fishingsfuture.org to register. Include your name & phone number. For more detailed information, visit www.fishingsfuture.org  and searching the “Upcoming Events”.
