LOVEWELL STATE PARK NEWS, NOTES AND HAPPENINGS!! Updated weekly.
As of 8-6-20 Lovewell Reservoir has been placed BACK into a WARNING status for harmful blue-green algae! Direct contact with water affected by the bloom is discouraged, and persons and pets should avoid areas of algae accumulation. The swimming beach has been closed. Fishing is safe, but clean the fish well and keep only the fillets. If you choose to cancel any reservations, please do so through the state park office directly, to receive the proper refund.
With regard to the Governor's Executive Order for mask-wearing: since the Kansas State Parks environment already lends itself well to social distancing, the wearing of masks is still optional in all areas of Lovewell State Park. ALL VISITORS SHOULD CONTINUE TO OBSERVE 6 FT OF SOCIAL DISTANCING IN ALL AREAS OF THE PARK.
The Fireworks Display originally scheduled for Friday evening July 3rd had been moved to Saturday, September 5th, which is Labor Day Weekend.
The Lovewell State Park Office is open summer hours of 8am to 6pm Saturday thru Thursday, and Friday until 8:30pm. You can also utilize the new CampItKS app, HuntFishKS app, reserveamerica.com and kshuntfishcamp.com for online purchases.
The Lovewell Marina and Grill is open 7am to 7pm daily (9pm on Friday/Saturday) with supplies, bait and dine in and carry-out food orders.
As of 08-6-20, Lovewell Reservoir is 2.5 feet above conservation pool.

Kansas Hunting and Fishing licenses are now sold on a 365 format, meaning those licenses are valid for 365 days from the date of purchase. Annual Park Permits are still valid for the calendar year. Customers who purchase an Annual or 14Day Camping permit receive a $10 per-night discount on any standard campsite (excluding cabins). Utility fees still apply as necessary.
Camping Cabin reservations are available up to 364 days in advance. 2019 campsite reservations for the Walleye Point, Cottonwood, and North Willow Utility Campgrounds are available April thru September at www.reserveamerica.com, or by calling the office during business hours. Remember, Kansas residents can purchase their Annual Park Passport at a reduced rate with vehicle registration at the courthouse!
Frontier, Pioneer, Pine Ridge and Sunrise Camping Cabins are designated as a "PET FRIENDLY" cabin. Customers who wish to bring their pets for their stay at these Camping Cabins will need to choose the "Pet Friendly" option on the online reservation page (or request it during a telephone reservation), and pay an add'l fee of $50.00. All other cabins remain as "No Pets Allowed". Pets must be kept outside in a kennel or on a secured chain or leash.
