  • The Fredonia Bay bath house is open, the Quarry Bay bath house will be open for Memorial Day weekend.
  • Vault toilets in Quarry Bay and Casner Creek Areas are also available.  
  • Playgrounds are CLOSED due to COVID19.
  •  Water is on to all campsites in Fredonia Bay and Casner Creek Campgrounds, the dump station is open.

Positioned between the Cross Timbers region and the grasslands of the Flint Hills, Fall River State Park is home to a remarkable diversity of plant and animal life. The 980-acre park is a unique blend of forested flood plains, blackjack savannas, and tall-grass prairie. Six hiking trails and an orienteering course offer visitors an up-close and personal perspective on this unique area.

A favorite pastime is canoeing Fall River, which feeds into the 2,450-acre reservoir of the same name. Bird watchers, photographers, and naturalists will enjoy a variety of native plants and animals here. More than 9,000 acres of public wildlife area next to the park are managed for a variety of game and non-game species. Dove, quail, deer, turkey, rabbit, squirrel, waterfowl, and prairie chicken are common.

Rendezvous

Due to COVID19 concerns all playgrounds are CLOSED!  The beach in Quarry Bay Area is also CLOSED! Visitors are welcome to swim in other areas while practicing social distancing.

The Fredonia Bay bathhouse is now open and Quarry Bay bathhouse will be open for Memorial weekend.  Vault toilets are available in Casner Creek Campground and in Quarry Bay Area.  All utility campsites have water and 50 amp electrical service, dump station is located behind the Fredonia Bay bathhouse.  The gatehouses in Fredonia Bay and Quarry Bay are now open weekends Friday, Saturday, and Sundays.

All campsites at Fall River State Park now reservable.  We are currently experiencing high occupancy, please go to www.reserveamerica.com or use the Campit KS app to check for future availability.

Fall River has cabins for rent!! They are located in the Gobbler's Knob campground within the Fredonia Bay area. Cedar Crest, Heron's Cove, and the Willow Bend cabin offer a full kitchen, bathroom with shower, a covered shelter outside, fire ring with grill, and of course picnic table. Cedar Crest & Heron's Cove will both sleep up to six, and Willow Bend features our two bedroom layout sleeping up to nine. All have a view of Fall River Reservoir and the beautiful tall grass prairie! Please use www.reserveamerica.com for reservations or contact our office. Please note these cabins do not allow smoking or tents outside. Heron's Cove is the only pet-friendly cabin, pet fee required.

**PLAYGROUNDS ARE CLOSED***   The park offers a large playground for kids located in the Fredonia Bay area. This facility is designed for children ages 5-12. We encourage proper use of the playground and that children are supervised. Park benches and a gazebo have been provided for this purpose. A small playground with climber and swings are in the Quarry Bay Area.

Fall River State Park features six trails of varying lengths for your family's enjoyment. All are open to foot and bicycle traffic, two are located in the Fredonia Bay Area, and four in the Quarry Bay Area of the park. The Casner Creek Trail also takes you to the Kids Fishing Pond.

Fall River State Park does not have a Park Office; it is managed out of the Cross Timbers State Park office at 144 Hwy 105, Toronto KS.


History

Heron's Cove and Cedar Crest cabins maximum capacity is six, offering full kitchens, bathroom with shower, full size bed, full size futon, twin size Murphy's bed, outdoor shelter, and fire-ring w/grill. Willow Bend is our two bedroom cabin, same amenities but sleeps up to 9. All share a view of the Fall River Reservoir and sit next to the Turkey Run hiking trail. There is NO smoking in the cabins and tents are not allowed in the area.  Heron's Cove is the only pet-friendly cabin, pet fee required.

     Fall River State Park is now offering rustic cabin rentals.

    Cedar Crest cabin is reservable year round. Reservations may be made up to a year in advance. Reservations are handled on a first come, first served basis. Requests are accepted by telephone, mail, e-mail, and in person. Reservations must be made at least a week in advance. A non-refundable and nontransferable reservation fee is applied to the cabin rentals. All reservations are nontransferable.

    Cancellation or reschedule of cabin reservation 30 days or more prior to arrival date results in a refund of fees paid, except for the reservation fee. Cancellation or reschedule of cabin 29 days or less to 5 days prior to arrival date results in a refund of fees paid minus a one night rental fee and the reservation fee.Cancellation or reschedule of cabin reservation 4 days or less prior to arrival or after the arrival date will result in all fees being forfeited.

    In addition to the cabin reservation, you must have a vehicle pass. You must be 18 or older to reserve and rent the cabin. No Smoking or Pets are allowed in the cabin. This is a housekeeping cabin. Please bring your own bedding, soap, and towels.

    The cabin comes with:

    Bathroom/shower, microwave, refrigerator, 4-burner cook stove with oven, full bed, Murphy twin bed, futon, table and chairs, AC/heat, outside hydrant, shelter, picnic table, fire ring w/grill, service for 8 set with silverware, glasses, toaster, coffee pot, and other limited cookware.

    Check in time is 2:00 p.m. Check out time is 12:00 p.m. (noon)

    Cabin renters shall be responsible for full payment of any damages incurred during their length of stay. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover Cardor personal check as payment for cabin rental. You may contact our park office at 620-637-2213 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
