Kansas State Parks Library Program
Kansas State Parks has partnered with the Kansas Public Library System to provide free, daily vehicle permits available for checkout to Kansas library patrons. Our mission in offering this program is to provide a way for all Kansans across the state to visit Kansas State Parks without the financial barrier of an entry fee.
- Go to a participating library and ask to checkout a Kansas State Parks vehicle Permit.
- Each issued vehicle permit will be good for one day only, which will be written on the front of the permit.
- It is up to each participating library to determine their checkout process.
- Park permits do not need to be returned to participating libraries, they can be simply discarded once the patron is done using the permit or when the permit expires.
- Patrons using these daily vehicle permits are responsible for displaying the permit in their vehicle windshield when entering the Parks.
Libraries looking to participate can contact the KDWP Office in Pratt to request permits. Permits are $5 a piece and are sold in books of 25 Permits.
Once permits have been received, it is up to the library to determine how to distribute permits to library patrons. Each library may have a different permit check out process.
The program ends December 31st, 2023. Participating libraries will have one month to return unused permits and libraries will be invoiced for the number of permits used or not returned.
Program begins in May 2023 and runs through December 2023.
All Kansas Public Libraries have the opportunity to take part in this program. Not all public libraries are participating libraries, check below for a list of participating locations. The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks is committed to making sure our public spaces are available to everyone. Collaborating with the Kansas Public Libraries to offer this program is one way to ensure all Kansans can enjoy our Kansas State Parks.
